Our story
“Moyo Mzuri” means “good heart” in Kiswahili, and this is the story behind our villas. We are a mixed group of passionate travellers, Tanzanian and European, joined by love, passion, and a good heart. We aim to bring our guests a unique touch of Zanzibar, inspired by our local knowledge and love for the local community and our neighbors. Unlike many other resorts where the owners are mostly European, we are locals. We speak the language, know the culture, and respect it. We use local resources and products to give our guests a real taste of Zanzibar.
Designed with Zanzibar in Mind
Our villas are a celebration of Zanzibar’s rich heritage. Local materials and handcrafted furniture create a warm and inviting atmosphere, while spacious interiors and private swimming pools ensure your ultimate comfort. All our villas are roofed with local makuti (palm leaves), and all the furniture is designed and built by our local carpenter from recycled old Arab boats called Dhow typical of the Indian Ocean.
We believe in responsible tourism that benefits both our guests and the local community. We source fresh ingredients from our very own organic vegetable and herb garden and employ staff from neighboring villages. We also utilize solar panels to heat water and implement a water recycling system to conserve this precious resource. Our own dug well provide clean, fresh water without any trace of salt, ensuring we do not disturb the local water supply. We embrace eco-friendly practices to minimize our footprint and preserve Zanzibar’s natural beauty.
